Talentime The Movie

I remembered back in high school, we did have a talentime night for all the girls. I was in Form 1 or Form 2, can’t remember well. But I did remember a few names that joined the search. My batch: Salha, Lina, Dr Shu and I think hot mama Mizah also. And Athirah jugak ke? Hehe. Then we have the seniors group. Everyone performed the hit song. And I think the senior won the competition. Mahh…I have no good memories on this one. But one thing for sure, I won’t allow myself into such competition haha. Malu and lack of self confidence I guess.

Ok so Hubby and I went to see Talentime the movie. As usual, Yasmin Ahmad’s film never can disappoint me. The first half of the movie was quite boring I can say because the clear message is not there yet. But the second half of the movie really touches my heart to the max! I quietly cried til the end of the movie ok. Ahh such a cewek girl I am hehe. The message in the movie is just a simple one yet we as Malaysians rarely notice it. The part where Melur was furious at Mahesh for ignoring her, I like the most. And the scene where Melur was reciting a poetry to Mahesh under a big tree then suddenly she said, “Now where do they come from?” while the camera zooms at few kiddos playing around. Sent both Hubby and me a big laugh about it. Haha

So thumbs up to all the actors/actresses involved in the movie.

From 5 stars, I would give 6.5 stars! That’s 1.5 extra bintang ok!

Official Website:
Talentime

Synopsis:
A talent search competition has matched two hearts - that of Melur, a Malay-mixed girl and an Indian male student, Mahesh. Melur, with her melodious voice, singing whilst playing the piano is one of the seven finalists of the Talentime competition of her school organised by Cikgu Adibah. Likewise Hafiz, enthralling with his vocalist talent while playing the guitar, dividing his time between school and mother, who is hospitalised for brain tumor.

It all started after Mahesh, amongst the students assigned to get the finalists to school for practice, delivered the notice of successful audition to Melur's house. His handsome looks attracted the girl. Early on of their relationship, tragedy struck Mahesh's family when his uncle Ganesh who had been the care-taker of the family since the loss of Mahesh's father, was stabbed to death on his wedding day. Melur thinking that Mahesh's silence was due to his grief over the tragedy became furious when she was continuously ignored. She regretted it however after Hafez revealed Mahesh's situation.

That changed Melur's perception of Mahesh. Likewise Mahesh, who grew comfortable with the presence of the girl who often quotes beautiful poetry. Mahesh, realizing that the relationship will be opposed, kept it hidden from his mother, still grieving over the death of Ganesh. Alas, the secret was exposed and Mahesh was assaulted before Melur's very eyes. Just a day before the competition, is Melur resilient enough to sing the poetic lyrics of her song when her heart is tormented by the thoughts of Mahesh? What about Mahesh who has found his first love? On Talentime night, everything unfolds.

Fridge Magnet Collection

My collection of fridge magnet.

I started collecting fridge magnets after I got married to dear Hubby. We did a lot of traveling and came across different type of fridge magnets to be added to my collection. My style is; I will always find a fridge magnet that has the name of the place that I visited. I have yet to fill the fridge door with my collection hehe. But back at my parents home, the collection almost fills the door. Ah I should put the picture later when I go back to Puchong.

Tacky Living teaches you on how to start with this hobby.
Kitchen Aid Magnets has a big collection of this items.

Do you like to collect fridge magnets just like me?

p/s: Did you vote for Earth last Saturday? I did! 8:30PM switched off the lights and straight I went to bed! hehe

Kelantan 2D1N Trip (210309)

So it was a good trip after all. I almost declined my mom's offer to go to Kelantan with her and my dad. But fate has it that Hubby and I got to enjoy a new environment. First time for Hubby. nth time for me hehe. We took the first MAS flight to Kota Bharu on Saturday.
Us camwhoring at the departure gate.
Early morning at Gate A8.
Off we flew to Kota Bharu with the latest addition to the MAS family; the B747-800. See the flip wing? Abah was so excited describing to us about the flight hehe.
Welcome to Kelantan! We met our driver and off he brought us to breakfast at this restaurant.
Selera daun Pisang at Tmn Uda Murni, Pengkalan Chepa. We had nasi dagang for breakfast. Then off we went to Air Dingin, Tumpat for my cousin's majlis kesyukuran. Ahh the food was so tasty especially the gulai kawah. Then off to another wedding (my mom's friend's son) at Tal 7, Pasir Mas. Then only were we sent to our hotel, Ridel Hotel. It's a 2 star hotel by the Sungai Kelantan. Nice ambience. I like it. It reminded me of Ibit Hotel in Bangkok where I used to stay with Hubby last year. I love the interior design. Very simple yet classy looking. Go have a look at the website and you'll know I'm saying.

Then at nite, our driver brought us to Pasar Malam Buluh Kubu. I got to substitute my crave for laddu to jala emas and bunga tanjung. Yum yum!

Then I got to meet Ms. Destinytells! Yeay! Thanks a lot kerana sudi jumpa saya hehe. Even in a short period of notice and short period of meeting, we managed to update each other.

The next day, we walked towards Pasar Buluh Kubu & Pasar Siti Khadijah. Mom bought us a pair of batik silk. Thank you mom! I love you! And I managed to grab few types of beads for my collection. Yeay! It was tiring I tell you. Accompanied my mom for shopping it is. Loves to see how my mom did the bargain with the salesgirl. Haha. You can't lie to my mom one! She knows the prices of batik silk very well.
This picture is taken at the lobby of Ridel Hotel. Spot something abnormal at the wau?
OK and this is me. Hubby's messing with the camera while I take a short nap while waiting for our flight back to KL. Man, see how exhausted I am after the trip?

p/s: Happy belated birthday dearest Abah. -210309-

Your light switch...is YOUR VOTE

picture courtesy from Only In Silence

You can VOTE EARTH by switching your lights off for one hour.
Or you can VOTE GLOBAL WARMING by leaving your lights on.
It’s your choice to be made on 28th of Mar, 2009 at 8:30PM local time.

Why should I VOTE EARTH?
This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global
election, between Earth and global warming.
For the first time in history,
people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to
use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for
Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world
to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented
to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.
This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against
global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the
people of the world to make their voice heard.

Earth Hour began in Sydney
in 2007,
when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights
for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability
movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks
such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney
Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in
darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being
taken to the next level,
with the goal of 1 billion people switching off
their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not
about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH
is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every
community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet.
Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH
during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single
vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for
future generations.

How can I show my support?
You can help rally support our Mother Earth. Check out different ways you can show your support
HERE

How can I spread the word?
1. Register now
2. Email a friend
3. Write a blog (like what I’m doing now)
4. Twitter

And I show my support by:
1. Write about Earth Hour
2. Putting a banner here
3. Swtich off my lights on 28/3.

The crave for sweetness

Urgh...suddenly I have the crave for laddu. It is just sudden. And I need it really bad. Like now! Huhu. Man, I wish I could persuade Hubby to bring me to Jln Tengku Kelana also known as Little India. They have big varieties of sweet treats for me to choose. Laddu will be my favorite.

How do I develop my love for Indian sweet treats? Well, when I was little and my family resided at Kg. Malaysia Raya, our neighbor was a ‘mamak’ nenek. She used to prepare all varieties of sweet treats for big orders. So I would always be a busybody and kept the nenek accompanied. So I got to taste all of it! Hence I became a sweet tooth person.

I remembered during my college days, I used to go to this Pak Arab’s supermarket just to have my fix of laddu or gulab jamun. Yum yum! I would bought a box (normally 6 pieces) each and kept it in the freezer for weeks.

Laddu, petisa, mysore pak, palkova, barfi, motichoor laddu, gulab jamun, kaju katli, and halva. Just to name a few of the sweet treats of Indian.

Selain dijadikan pembuka sesuatu majlis atau perayaan, juadah manisan mampu membawa kegembiraan, nilai positif dan kesejahteraan yang berpanjangan kepada seluruh anggota keluarga.

Part 2: Hunting for fun, anyone?

Date: 14 Mar, 2008
Activity: Hunt 4 Fun

Puchong 8882. That’s our group name for the Hunt 4 Fun program organized by Kelab Bahagian Analisa Cukai (Kelab BAC) MOF. Yup we had so much fun driving from MOF to Seri Kembangan to Bangi to Putrajaya and back to MOF. Thank God we had my lil bro as ‘penunjuk jalan’. We didn’t really follow the tulips given by organizer as adik is actually familiar with all the area. Hence we only stop at the checkpoint needed to answer the questions.

We were the first team to arrive at finish line. Yeay! But unfortunately we got 10th place which entitles us a voucher of RM200 from Parkson and a hamper. Jadi la. Mom was kind enough to give me the entire RM200 voucher. Yes! Shopping time!

So I’ll leave you to some of the pictures taken after the hunt. Picture before the hunt takdak because everyone was so excited to start the hunt we forgot to snap pictures. Boo…

Manik & Labuci

Finally i got the chance to enrol myself in bengkel jahitan manik & labuci organized by Kak Mus & Kak Nor from Kilauan Mustika. Thanks dear Hubby for supporting me.

What motivates me to enrol in this class? My mom actually hehe. She would spent RM300 per baju kurung at her usual tailor if she wanted her baju kurung to be beaded. That's a lot of money! Well at least for me. So I vow to learn the proper way to bead and saves her the RM150 for beading charges :)

This is the outcome from the class.

The patern learnt:
1. Manik tabur
2. Ulat
3. Beriring single
4. Arrow kosong
5. Arrow berlabuci
6. Arrow mutiara berlabuci
7. Pintalan
8. Pintalan berlabuci
9. Piramid
10. Selembut bayu
11. Bunga Ixora
12. Bunga Raya
13. Bunga Sequin
14. Anyaman Kasih
15. Bunga Mutiara

And this is my work-in-progress (on my own baju kurung). I applied the 'pintalan' and 'manik tabur' patern to it. Can you spot the beaded butterfly? hehe. 1 day it takes me to come to this point.

TQ dear Hubby for always being my 'pengkritik setia'. I'm going for Tahap 2 soon!

Readers, I'm now open for tempahan manik. Contact me at ainunnisa[at]yahoo.com for more info!

The sweetness of Ms. Delicia

I'm not much of a bread-eater. Neither does Hubby. Everytime we bought the white sliced bread, in the name of trying to eat healthy, half of the loaf will be tossed into dustbin as it has been more than a week past due date.

So when I was introduced to Ms. Delicia Butterscotch by a colleague, man I fell in love instantly. Being a sweet-teeth I am, butterscotch and I get along very well together even on the first bite.

But to find Ms. Delicia Butterscotch is not an easy task I tell you. Once I saw one of the operator bought 4 loaves of butterscotch from the cafe. Boy, I guess the whole company loves Ms. Delicia Butterscotch! I first bought butterscotch at Jusco IOI Mall. A loaf of this sweet bread costs us RM4. Worth the money!

Ms. Delicia also comes in Choc Raisin Flavor, which I haven't given the try yet due to my lack of love for chocolate.
