have you heard/read about dabbawalla?

i was first introduced to the word dabbawalla by a trainer in a training that i went yesterday. he roughly explained the business of dabbawalla and how great they perform everyday without any mistake. anyone of you have heard/read about dabbawalla? if i'm not mistaken, a documentary about them was done by BBC some years ago.

in Hindi, dabba means lunch box and walla means person. hence, dabbawalla means lunch box person. a dabbawalla is a person in Mumbai who works in a very unique organization or service industry whose primary business is delivering freshly cook lunch in a lunch box at customers (mainly office goers) at their doorsteps on time.this service was originated way back in the 1880. in 1956, a charitable trust was registered under the name of Nutan Mumbai Tiffin Box Suppliers Trust.

transportation use by the dabbawallas to deliver the dabbas include train, bicycle, and even walking. the service is uninterrupted even on the days of extreme weather, such as Mumbai's characteristic monsoons

according to a recent survey, there is only one mistake in every 6,000,000 deliveries. which if you know, equivalent to a Six Sigma rating!! and to add to the wow-some, no advance technology is used in the service except for coding system. wow!! even Microsoft is amazed with their system.

ok i'm still amazed by the fact how they manage their organization without fail and could do better than a Six Sigma rating!!

we arrived jengka for rahmah-chan's wedding around 2:30PM. orang dah siap2 nak lipat khemah dah haha. geng sohabat pon dah nak gerak balek ke kl. dah kol 12 baru nak gerak dr kl. gaya mcm nak gi wedding kat damansara je hehe. yang sedihnya, i left my camera in the car. so no pic with rahmah-chan *sob sob* tp dlm camera cameraman die ade inshaallah...

anyway, cherating trip was ok. we stayed at Holiday Villa. the chalet was ok. no bath tub for me to rendam-rendam. but has 2 big swimming pools to justify it hehe. breakfast was ok. the normal typical breakfast at standard malaysia hotel. the beach was not ok. tak menarik untuk mandi-manda. we were charged rm40 for dinner at one of the local restaurant along the Jln Kemaman. not delicious high price. that Jln Kemaman was very scary. big lorries travel very fast. kereta-kereta potong-memotong tanpa rasa takut.

oh hubby got the chance to revisit his alma mater; MRSM Kuantan.

what i learnt today at work

1. no point (useless) of arguing with shallow-minded person eventho you are WELL-EQUIPPED with all the facts & figures. you might just stay away from the discussion and directly bring the facts & figures to a better person who has better mind & thinking. seriously it is just a waste of time.
   
2. The Boss will delegate his (tedious & stupid) work to you if they think they can't perform up to the (stupid) requirement. that way, in case anything happen, all the 5 fingers will be pointing directly to you. yup, i had this moment more than once just for this week alone. baik je la trus nominate aku jadi The Boss.

siapa dia bertha hertogh?

Bertha Hertogh (dikenali juga sebagai Natrah @ Nadra Maarof) pernah mencetuskan fenomena yang besar di Tanah Melayu sekitar tahun 1950. Jujurnya, aku tidak pernah tahu akan kewujudan Natrah sehingga lah berita kematian beliau pada Julai 2009 terpampang di akhbar tempatan. Terus aku google Natrah dan berjaya mendapatkan beberapa maklumat mengenai beliau. Kisah hidup beliau yang tragik amat menyentuh hati aku untuk terus belajar tentang Natrah.

Bermula 30 Nov sehingga 9 Dis, pementasan teater Natrah akan berlangsung di Istana Budaya di bawah kelolaan sutradara Erma Fatima. Amat teruja untuk menonton dek kerana Maya Karin dan Remy Ishak dipilih sebagai tunjang utama pementasan. Jom kita pergi beramai-ramai.
 

OMG tak sabar actually nak tengok my adam hassan my tengku haidar!!! hahaha...

(An)Other Weekend Getaway

will be attending rahmah-chan's wedding this weekend at Jengka, Pahang. and we will spend the night at Cherating. orang kate sambil menyelam minum air la kan. wedding pon dapat attend. bercuti pon dapat. hehe.

hubby and i are not familiar with the east coast. and since the last time i was in Cherating was more than 15yrs ago, i have no idea of what to expect. ok a few questions:

1. how long is the journey from KL - Jengka?

2. how far is Cherating from Jengka?

3. what to do in Cherating?

4. which road to take? the karak highway, then??

and since this is the first time we will drive our cute-sy myvi for a long journey, i was a bit sceptical. if honda city, i'm very sure it will definitely be a smooth run. but with myvi, boleh ke die daki highway karak tu? haha...ok nisa, pls have faith in your cute-sy myvi. pretty pls!
